The SEG(Society of Exploration Geophysicists)in the United States establishes seismic record polari-ty standards as SEG polarity and SEG anti-polarity,ensuring the uniformity of original field records. In seismic exploration projects, oil companies provide explicit instructions and requirements for instrument polarity,vibro-seis polarity, and seismic data polarity in advance.Polarity errors can lead to significant quality incidents.Hence, special attention must be given to polarity testing after construction audits, routine inspections of acquisi-tion equipment, and replacement of relevant acquisition equipment components. This paper,in conjunction with a field seismic acquisition project and using the Sercel system as a case study, employs the third-party testing soft-ware Testif-i to examine and dissect SEG polarity-related knowledge. The goal is to provide guidance in the actu-al production process and prevent quality incidents arising from polarity issues.
