Application of Kalman filtering in automated surveying for onshore seismic survey
As the seismic exploration industry transitions towards high-density and high-productivity survey op-erations,traditional manual surveying methods, characterized by high costs, low efficiency, and labor-intensive repetition, are becoming increasingly inadequate for project requirements. This paper introduces the fundamental principles of the Kalman filter algorithm and discusses its successful application in offshore seismic survey.Fur-thermore,an automated surveying and stake-out method integrating high-precision GNSS positioning system and Kalman filtering is proposed.Applied in a large-scale 3D seismic survey project in the Middle East, this techno-logical solution utilizes high-precision vehicular measurement equipment to achieve real-time high-accuracy posi-tioning during vehicle motion, complemented by mechanical automation and assistive driving technologies. This has significantly enhanced the efficiency and quality of staking-out operations, demonstrating its practical value and potential for broader adoption within the seismic exploration industry.
