Abstract
In May 2012, Xi'an Municipal Institute of Cultural Heritage Conservation and Archaeology conducted rescue excavation to a tomb of the Tang Dynasty at Qujiang in Xi'an. This was a brick single-chamber tomb oriented to the south, and consisting of the vertical passage, entrance sealing wall, corridor and tomb chamber. On the walls of the corridor and tomb chamber, murals were painted. From this tomb, grave goods made of pottery, porcelain, iron, lead and bone were unearthed, as well as the epitaph.According to the epitaph, the occupant of this tomb was Mme Cui, the Mistress of Boling Commandery of the Tang Dynasty, and the wife of Zhou Bao, the jiedushi (military commissioner) of Jingyuan and Zhenhai Army Prefectures; she was interred in the sixth year of Qianfu reign period (879). This tomb was precisely dated and rather completely preserved, which provided new data for the researches on the burials of the late Tang Dynasty in Xi'an area.
