Excavation of Huqiugang Site of the Longshan Era in Kaifeng,Henan
The Huqiugang Site is located southwest of Wangchenzhai Village,Luowang Town,Xiangfu District,Kaifeng City,Henan Province.From September 2018 to June 2019,the Department of Archaeology of the School of History,Zhengzhou University,collaborated with the Kaifeng Municipal Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and the Cultural Relics Protection and Management Office of Xiangfu District,Kaifeng City,excavated an area of around 600 sq.m.at the site.The remains belonging to the late Longshan Era include house foundations,tombs,pottery kilns,ash pits,ash trenches,etc.,and unearthed artifacts involving materials of pottery,stone,bone,clam,etc.Cultural factors can be identified as the Zaolvtai Culture,followed by the Third Phase of Wangwan Culture,and a few of the Second Phase of Hougang Culture.The Longshan remains found at the Huqiugang Site are diverse in types and rich in connotations,providing crucial data on the research of cultural distribution,cultural exchanges,and ethnic relations of eastern Henan during the late Longshan Era.
