Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum is located at the northern foot of Lishan Mountain, about 5 kilometers east of Lintong District,Xi'an City,Shaanxi Province. It consists of the wall-enclosed inner and outer cities, with gates on each wall. The remains of annexes between the east gates of the inner and outer cities of the mausoleum are situated on both sides of the long line extending from the east-west central axis of the mound and underground palace. In 1999 and 2019,archaeologists conducted two surveys on them;from April to December 2022,the Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum excavated the remains of annexes on the south side. They have been veranda-style buildings on a raised platform, comprising the above-ground architecture and the underground foundation, and can be divided into four groups according to structures.Unearthed artifacts are mainly terracotta, iron, and stone building materials;terracotta building materials involve eave tiles, ridge tiles, and semi-cylindrical tiles.According to the unearthed artifacts and historical records,Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum was constructed from the time Ying Zheng succeeded to the throne to the second year of Ying Huhai, and the destruction of these annexes should be at the end of Qin and the beginning of Han.
