The sacrificial area of the Jinsha Site in Chengdu, estimated to be 4,000 to 2,500 B.P.,was formed over a long period of time as people continuously buried sacrificial objects.Based on the carbon-14 dating, the earliest bronzewares appeared in the sacrificial area around 1,400 B.C.,which coincides with the beginning of the Sanxingdui Culture.Since the Neolithic Age,Sanxingdui has been the center of the Chengdu Plain;Jinsha coexisted with it as a secondary settlement and became the new center after the decline of Sanxingdui. This relationship led to the commonalities and differences between the two sites. The remains of the Bronze Age in the Jinsha sacrificial area can be seen as a whole;it and Sanxingdui did not represent two different cultures when they coexisted. Moreover,Jinsha did not generate a new culture afterward;they both belong to the Sanxingdui-Jinsha Culture.
