The Bicun site is a very special city that appeared in the key period of the formation of the diversified integrated Chinese civilization in the Central Plains.It situated at a crucial passage between the Hetao region and southern Shanxi.Its innate geographical location made it an important gateway to the both banks of the Yellow River.Due to its close relationship with Shimao site,a neighboring super settlement,they both formed a two-level political structure like capital city and border city,which provided a new way to explore the Hetao Model in the study of the origin of Chinese civilization.Beyond that,we could outline the cultural landscape of the middle reaches of the Yellow River around 4000 years ago by combining with the central settlements of other regions in the same period and the political profile of the Loess Plateau further more.
