Bicun site is a large stone-walled settlement in the late Longshan period of the western Shanxi Plateau. There were a wide range of stone materials, mainly used as high-grade building materials.Through the observation, measurement and thin-section petrography of the collected stone samples,it is shown that the Bicun ancestors mainly chose block stones, followed by a small amount of pebbles for wall. All the block stones were sedimentary rock, mainly feldspar sandstone stone, followed by feldspar quartz sandstone, mixed sandstone, quartz sandstone;pebble stones were diverse. The stones used in the Bicun Site were all local materials. The stones were taken from the exposed bedrock of the Mesozoic Triassic system near the site, and the pebbles may be taken from the alluvial flat of the Yufen River and the Yellow River near the site,as well as the gravel accumulation in the valley terrace.
