The Shukenfu Gui vessel unearthed from Tomb M1034 at Dahekou cemetery is from early reign of king Mu of Western Zhou.Its owner,Shukenfu was a high-graded noble of Jin state.He was probably one of brothers of the Jin marquis,or an official with special position.The tomb owner was a middle-graded noble and military official during the reign of King Zhao and King Mu.Both He and Gezhong,the owner of Tomb M2002,son of the lord of Ba state,Shang,died in the battle against the Rong.Since this Gui unearthed from the Ba cemetery,it was likely given as a gift or for supporting the funerals.It was a routine that the kings or Marquis built a residence,ancestorral temple or aid marriage for his intimate officials.Even they would be attend the ceremonies for showing his courteous respection.All these are helpful for understanding the political,social,ritual system of Shang and Zhou.
