Figurines who play blowing and percussion instruments unearthed in the tomb numbered M3 in Dengjiazhong Village,Xi'an City,can be divided into three categories:figurines who play blowing and percussion instruments on horses,figurines who holding flags on horses and a standing figurines who play blowing and percussion instruments.The Ganggu played by standing figurines and the combination of playing blowing and percussion instruments on horses'back and walking reflected the close cultural exchanges between Guanzhong area and Northeast and Northwest China during the Sixteen Kingdoms Period.And judging from the number of figurines who play Chinese traditional instruments and figurines who play blowing and percussion instruments unearthed in this tomb and other tombs of the Sixteen Kingdoms Period in Guanzhong area,the mainstream musical performance forms has shown a trend of"ethnic music rising and the traditional ones declining"during the middle and late Sixteen Kingdoms Period.Finally,according to the specifications of the tombs,the types of burial objects,the musical figurines and the comparison with other tombs at the same time,it is speculated that the tomb owner should have titled Xianhou or above and ranked the third degree of military officer,its post might be the"Zhonghujun".
