This paper focuses on two types of glazed tiles unearthed at Xinli site in Liaoning. The producing information on the unearthed materials was fully collected by means of microtrace analysis, and the producing process was reconstructed. The ridged tiles at Xinli site are precast ones, which are not like those made by cutting a semi-cylindrical tile as recorded in the historical documents. This shows the complexity of the practice. These glazed tiles were loaded and fired side by side in the kiln.Such method, without spacers, differs from the firing of full-glazed lead pottery that need supporting pins, and thus meets the demands of intensive production of tiles. The reconstruction of the tiles'producing process enriched the understanding of the early glazed tile making, and also showed that the building complex at Xinli site had a good balance between tile quality and production efficiency.
