There are a few remnants in the gilt copper belt buckle unearthed from the Northern Wei tombs in Jiaotongyuan,Datong. In order to understand its material and deterioration from a scientific point of view, the micro-morphology and structure of textile residues were observed and analyzed by using ultra-depth three-dimensional microscope system, scanning electron microscope-energy spectrum analyzer, infrared spectrum analysis and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),and the fiber material was identified.Using a variety of methods to consider the structural characteristics and composition of textile residues comprehensively, the material species can be more accurately identified and the reliability of the results can be improved. The test shows that the textiles mixed in the gilt bronze belt buckle are mulberry silk. The test results are not only of great significance to the archaeological and historical research of the silk-woven cultural relics of the northern ethinic groups in the Northern Wei Dynasty, but also provide scientific basis for the combination shape of the belt buckle and the material of the belt Ting in the Northern Wei.
