Design of Multiband Microstrip Patch Antenna Based on Dumbbell Defected Ground Structure
Multiband implementation of antennas is crucial for improving the performance of wireless communication.By loading Dumbbell Defected Ground Structure(DB-DGS)and etching slots on the patch,a novel coaxial-fed triple band rectangular microstrip patch antenna is designed, which meets the needs of applications for Wireless Local Area Network(WLAN-2.45 GHz),(WLAN-5.25 GHz)and Worldwide interoperability for Microwave Access(WiMAX-3.5 GHz).The return loss values of the antenna for S11<-10 dB are-20.8,-20.6,and-24.0 dB,respectively, with corresponding gains of 2.8,2.2,and 3.1 dBi,and good impedance matching is achieved. The equivalent circuit model of dumbbell DGS is introduced and simulation analysis is implemented on the main parameters of the DGS and slot structure, which can broaden the thinking for antenna developers and designer.
