Design of Dual-band Dual-mode Wearable Antenna for On-/Off-body Communications
Based on the theory of characteristic mode,a dual-mode wearable antenna for on-body and off-body operation at 2.45,5.8 GHz is designed. The dual-band dual-mode wearable antenna is developed by introducing a new omnidirectional radiation mode at 2.45 GHz,achieved by loading a microstrip line between the triangular radiating patch and the ground plane, combined with the directional radiation pattern of the triangular patch itself at 5.8 GHz.Simulation results show that the antenna provides omnidirectional radiation at low frequency with an impedance bandwidth of 1.6%(2.45~2.49 GHz),suitable for on-body communication, and directional radiation at high frequency with an impedance bandwidth of 4.3%(5.67~5.92 GHz),suitable for off-body communication.
