K-band Low Profile Reconfigurable Linear-to-Circular Polarization Converter for Satellite Communication
With the demand for the high capacity and flexible operating modes of K-band satellite communication,a reflective reconfigurable linear-to-circular polarization converter for K-band satellite communication is designed. The linear-to-circular polarization converter is based on an improved Jerusalem cross structure, which can convert linearly-polarized waves into right-handed circularly-polarized waves and left-handed circularly-polarized waves in the frequency bands of 18.59~20.50 GHz and 18.66~23.19 GHz,respectively, with the PIN diode turned on and off.The overlapping working frequency band is 18.66~20.50 GHz with a bandwidth of 1.84 GHz.The unit size of the polarization converter is 0.22λ×0.2λ×0.083λ(λ is the wavelength of the center frequency),and the profile height is only 0.083λ.When the PIN diode is under the on and off states, the incident angle stability is 40° and 20° respectively, with the cross-polarization level below-60 dB.
