Design of Dual Polarization Broadband 1-bit Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface
Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface(RIS)are widely used in new wireless communication network systems due to their flexible regulation of electromagnetic waves. They particularly meet requirement of 6G mobile communication for low-cost,low profile, easy layout, low energy consumption, and multifunctional devices. However, existing metasurface devices are often limited to single-polarization control and have a narrow operating bandwidth, greatly limiting their application in next-generation wireless communication systems. This paper proposes a dual polarization broadband 1-bit RIS,which achieves 1-bit phase control of dual polarization electromag-netic waves near 3.5 GHz through receiving patch, reconfigurable gap,and radiation patch. The designed metasurface element has a-3 dB bandwidth of 2.98~4.6 GHz,with a relative bandwidth of 42.7%.By analyzing and synthesizing the metasurface constructed by the element using the theory of plane wave angle spectrum,a 16×16 array is designed, which can achieve multifunctional electromag-netic wave control, including beam scanning, focusing, and vortex beam generation. It can achieve high gain beam scanning within±60° of the two-dimensional plane, with a-3 dB relative bandwidth of up to 36.7%.
