Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)have a reduced microbiota that produces short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs)in lower abundance, altered intestinal flora, impaired intestinal barrier function, and ele-vated plasma lipopolysaccharide levels.Dietary fibre positively regulates glucose metabolism and improves obesity by increasing the production of SCFAs by colonic fibre fermentation, which is conducive to the reduction of the inci-dence and progression of T2DM.Thus,the use of dietary fibre intervention has positive clinical significance in the prevention and treatment of T2DM.
