M channels are an important part of the Kv7 family of voltage-gated potassium channels, which are found primarily in the nervous and vascular systems.M channels mediate the M current to stabilize the mem-brane potential and inhibit abnormal discharges, which is important in regulating neuronal excitability and vascular tone.Studies have shown that M channels dysfunction is closely related to various neuropsychical diseases and cardi-ovascular diseases and is a key target for drug therapy. In this review,we provide an overview of the structural het-erogeneity and function of M channels in different tissues, and review their roles in the development and progression of neuropsychical diseases and cardiovascular diseases such as epilepsy,Alzheimer's disease,depression,hyperten-sion,coronary artery disease, and pulmonary arterial hypertension, offering new perspectives and target for the treatment of these diseases.
