Research on the Impact of Cross-Border E-Commerce on the Quality of Export Products in China's Manufacturing Industry
As a new form of trade,cross-border e-commerce is an important channel to support the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry and promote high-quality development in trade.Based on the export data of 86 types of products from 2003 to 2022,this paper uses the complexity of export technology to measure the quality of export products in China's manufacturing industry, and empirically analyzes the impact of cross-border e-commerce on the complexity of export technology in the manufacturing industry by using the difference-in-difference method, and further explores its functional mechanism. The results show that the cross-border e-commerce policy implemented in China since 2012 has effectively improved the quality of export products in labor-intensive and capital-intensive manufacturing industries, but its impact on the quality of technology-intensive export products is not significant.Through the intermediary effect test,it is found that cross-border e-commerce promotes the improvement of manufacturing export quality by expanding market size and increasing research and development investment. Therefore,it is recommended to provide relevant policy support to strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights and guide the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises.
