The Impact of Adaptability of Human Capital and Technology Selection on Manufacturing Upgrading
The most appropriate manufacturing structure in a region is endogenous to its factor endowment structure, and only by matching technology selection with human capital can the manufacturing industry be upgraded.Based on the theory of appropriate technology selection, this paper uses the C-D production function and China's provincial panel data from 2011 to 2021 to empirically study the effects of human capital and technology selection and their adaptability on manufacturing upgrading. The results show that human capital has a significant positive effect on manufacturing upgrading, and only appropriate technology selection can provide impetus for manufacturing upgrading.Human capital plays a threshold role in the technology selection process affecting manufacturing upgrading.Effective matching of human capital and technology selection plays an important driving role in manufacturing upgrading, which is heterogeneous in different regions with different levels of economic development and different factor-intensive manufacturing industries. All regions should introduce appropriate human capital-oriented technologies to achieve the matching of human capital and technology selection,so as to guide the combination of technological progress and industrial characteristics and promote manufacturing upgrading.
