How Can Digital Economy Development Empower Farmers to Increase Their Income?An Empirical Analysis Based on the Mediating Effect and Spatial Spillover Effect
Based on the provincial panel data from 2013 to 2022 in China,a comprehensive evaluation index system for the development of digital economy was constructed,and the double fixed effect model,mediating effect model and spatial Durbin model were used to empirically investigate the impact,mediation mechanism and spatial spillover effect of digital economy development on farmers'income.The results show that the development of digital economy can significantly promote the growth of farmers'income,with the agricultural productive service industry playing an important intermediary role.For the eastern region of China and the group with higher level of agricultural productive service,the digital economy has a better effect on increasing farmers'income.The development of digital economy has an significant positive spatial spillover effect on increasing farmers'income,radiating and driving the growth of farmers'income in neighboring areas.It is suggested to improve the construction of digital infrastructure,leverage the intermediary role of agricultural productive service industry,promote the development of the digital economy according to local conditions,and establish a regional collaboration network.
