How Does Higher Education Development Affect Regional Entrepreneurial Vitality?An Empirical Study Based on Provincial Panel Data in China
Based on provincial panel data in China,this study uses a panel model to investigate the impact of higher education development on regional entrepreneurial vitality.The results indicate that there is a strong similarity between the spatial distribution of higher education development and regional entrepreneurial vitality.From a national perspective,factors such as the number of students in colleges and universities,per capita education funding,research and development funding,and the number of full-time teachers with doctorate degrees,have a significant positive impact on regional entrepreneurial vitality,while the student-teacher ratio has a significant negative impact.From a regional perspective,there are regional differences in the impact of higher education development on entrepreneurial vitality,with the performance in the eastern region being consistent with the national performance.The per capita education funding and the number of full-time teachers with doctoral degrees in the central region have a significant positive impact on regional entrepreneurial vitality.The number of students enrolled in colleges and universities in the western region and the per capita education funding have a significant positive impact on regional entrepreneurial vitality,while the student-teacher ratio and the proportion of full-time teachers have a significant negative impact.Therefore,it is necessary to further optimize the structure of higher education and teaching staff,and broaden funding channels to provide fundamental conditions and talent support for enhancing regional entrepreneurial vitality.
