Carbon Reduction Effect of Artificial Intelligence:Theoretical Mechanisms and Empirical Investigation
In the critical period of comprehensive modernization,it is a key measure to promote the modernization of the national governance system and governance capacity to deal with the long-standing problem of"emphasizing development and light emission"of local governments. In this paper,cross-regional panel data from 2010 to 2021 in China were used to construct a nonlinear,intermediate-effect measurement model to examine the impact of artificial intelligence on carbon emissions. The empirical results show that:overall, the impact of artificial intelligence on carbon emissions presents a significant inverted U-shaped relationship;by region,AI only has a significant inverse relationship with carbon emissions in the central and western regions. The impact mechanism test shows that artificial intelligence reduces carbon emissions through human capital structure optimization and economic agglomeration.
