Analysis of the Institute for Chinese Studies at SunYat-sen University in Moscow and its Relations with the Communist International(1928-1930)
In order to solve the urgent problem of the lack of Marxist-Leninist sinologists in the Soviet Union,Sun Yat-sen University in Moscow established the Institute of Chinese Studies within its system in 1928,specializing in Marxist-Leninist sinology. The establishment of the Institute began under the guidance of the Comintern, and its research content, organizational structure and personnel composition were closely linked to the Comintern, quickly becoming an important consultative unit between the UCP and the Comintern on the question of the Chinese Revolution. In its interactions with the Comintern, the Institute for China Studies had a certain influence on the decision-making of the Comintern through the publication of translated articles and the direct writing of relevant documents. In addition, the Institute has influenced the Comintern in non-decision-making matters by including members of the Chinese delegation to the Comintern in reports and seminars and by providing academic research resources. The Comintern's positive attempts to work with academic research institutions to guide the problems of the Chinese revolution have left some important results in the academic field, but their assistance to the academic nature of the Comintern has not met expectations and has some limitations due to the constraints of political demands.
