Effect of Toona Sinensis Fruit Peel and Axial Tissue on Heat Tolerance of Drosophila Melanogaster
To explore the effect of Toona sinensis fruit peel and axial tissue on the tolerance of heat shock on Drosophila melanogaster.Fruit flies were fed with normal corn agar medium containing 0.1,1,5 and 10 g/L of fruit peel and axis powder, respectively, and their survival time was observed at 38±1 ℃ when exposed to 38±1 ℃.The fruit peel was the optimum material with heat tolerance on female fruit flies. Therefore, they were selected for the heat adaptation and athletic ability test. The results showed that the lethal time of 50%(LT50),mean survival time(T)and maximum survival time(Tmax)of fruit flies were prolonged by fruit peel and axis. The fruit peel displayed the best effect on improving the thermal tolerance of female fruit flies. The fruit peel significantly improved the survival time and motility of female fruit flies after heat exercise. With the increasing concentration of fruit peel,it showed a trend of increasing and decreasing, and reached its maximum at a concentration of 5 g/L(P<0.05),indicating that T.sinensis fruit peel have the function of improving the body's heat tolerance.
