Drawing upon the updated CSE Writing Scales of Written Text Features as the criteria,this study is intended for the standard setting of a diagnostic writing test(Test D)aiming at college students in China.It is found that,on the one hand,the application of the CSE Writing Scales yields expected CSE cutoff scores across genres of Test D,which can be further triangulated and expounded by text analysis results.On the other hand,the fine-grained information derived from the standard setting process can help generate and enrich diagnostic feedback.The study expands scenarios of applying the CSE Writing Scales,and sets a paradigm for conducting standard setting research of diagnostic writing assessment.
