摘要

本文选取24个汉语句子和6916个英语译句,从译文复杂度和译文质量两方面考察源语依存距离对中国英语学习者汉英笔译表现的影响.研究发现:1)在译文词汇复杂度方面,随着原句依存距离的增大,译句词汇多样性由逐步偏离转向逐步接近最佳译句,词汇难度逐步增加,词汇密度逐步降低,词频广度中的一、二、三级词汇的变化趋势各异;在句法复杂度方面,随着原句依存距离的增大,译句平均长度逐步偏离最佳译句,平均依存距离逐步增大.2)在译文质量方面,随着原句依存距离的增大,译句总分呈先提高后稳定的趋势,形式分呈先提高后下降的趋势,语义分呈逐步提高的趋势.上述发现表明,中国英语学习者在汉英译文复杂度和质量各维度上的表现均不同程度地受到源语依存距离的影响.

Abstract

This study investigated the effect of dependency distance of source texts on the complexity and quality in Chinese EFL learners'Chinese-English translation.A total of 24 original sentences and 6,916 translated sentences were selected from the PACCEL.Results revealed the following:(i)in terms of lexical complexity of translated sentences,as dependency distances of original sentences increased,lexical diversity first deviated from and then approximated to the best translation,lexical sophistication gradually increased,lexical density gradually decreased,and indices of lexical frequency breadth varied.In syntactic complexity of translated sentences,as the dependency distances of original sentences increased,the mean sentence length gradually deviated from the best translation,and the mean dependency distance gradually increased.(ii)Regarding translation quality,as the dependency distances of the original sentences increased,the overall score first increased and then stabilised,the form score first increased and then decreased,and the semantic score gradually increased.These results indicate that dependency distance of source texts has a different impact on Chinese EFL learners'translation complexity and quality.
