A contrastive analysis of the descriptions of content and scope of Chinese Language and Literature and Foreign Language and Literature disciplines in China and their implications
A contrastive analysis of the disciplinary content and scope of Chinese Language and Literature(CLL)and Foreign Language and Literature(FLL)in China yielded the following findings.First, significant differences were identified between the descriptions of the two disciplines in terms of content and scope despite the shared category of literature.Second, regarding disciplinary content, although both CLL and FLL emphasized research, they differed in their concerns of teaching and descriptions of the aspects they should include.Third,in terms of scope,CLL introduced 11 subdisciplines while FLL included 5 research areas and 14 subdisciplines. On the one hand, these differences result in confusion in student education and academic research;on the other hand, they present opportunities for mutual learning. This analysis offers insights that may be beneficial for the future development of both disciplines.
