A new model for human advancement and the construction of politeness discourse systems
The intrinsic connection between politeness and social civilization is fundamental as"civilization and politeness"encapsulates the very essence of civilization and functions as its symbolic representation.Under Xi Jinping's ideological framework,China has embarked upon an era characterized by"a new model for human advancement."Consequently,a paramount theoretical inquiry into contemporary pragmatics centers on the development of a politeness discourse system,which represents,disseminates,and even constructs a new form of civilization within a socialist society.By adopting a grand view of history,this study delves into the characteristics of politeness discourse in China's old and new democratic revolutions and socialist revolution and construction,highlighting how these characteristics have evolved alongside social changes.Subsequently,this study explores the connections of politeness with friendliness,harmony,and civilization,suggesting ways in which politeness discourse can represent,disseminate,and construct a social civilization.Finally,it proposes a framework for a politeness discourse system rooted in the values of"friendliness"and"harmony"within the context of this new model for human advancement.
