This study examines the application of Production-Oriented Approach(POA)in the teaching of knowledge-based courses,taking"Introduction to English Linguistics"as an example.Firstly,this study explores the applicability and connotations of the principle"integrating learning with use"in POA in this course.Subsequently,it distinguishes the motivating purpose of"Introduction to English Linguistics"from that of English skill-based courses,and proposes the use of"questions"instead of"scenarios"in the motivating process to discover students'linguistic knowledge gaps.Additionally,this study designs enabling and evaluating activities to help students understand,apply and expand linguistics knowledge and theories.Finally,this study demonstrates the achievement of teaching objectives through a specific teaching case,and provides some implications for the innovative teaching of English knowledge-based courses.
