The Phauda flammans feeds on the leaves of various Ficus plants,particularly F.macrocarpa,F.benjamina,and F.altissima.Research revealed that P.flammans has three generations per year in Xiamen,with pupation occurring in late November,and the first generation of larvae appearing in late April of the following year.It is currently widespread in all administrative areas of Xiamen,with the peak periods of damage by P.flammans in Xiamen being mainly concentrated in early June,early mid-August,and mid to late October.Since the end of July 2023,the occurrence of P.flammans increased significantly.Fujian,Guangdong,Guangxi,and Hainan provinces are projected to be moderately to highly suitable areas for P.flammans.Based on the biological characteristics of P.flammans,strategies for its prevention and control have been proposed,including monitoring and warning,and physical,chemical,and biological control.
