An Analytical Framework for Language Conflict from the Perspective of Language Security
National language security is an emerging field that demands thorough investigation under the holistic view of national security.Identifying and analyzing language conflict is of significant importance in preventing and resolving potential dangers and risks posed to national language security, constituting a crucial aspect of research in this area. However, most of the existing studies are con-fined to the development of explanatory theories, characterized by the lack of attention on analytical framework.Besides, these studies have not yet integrated language conflict into the broader scope of language security or developed operational analytical tools. In this light, this paper adopts the perspective of language security and constructs an analytical framework after clarifying the concept of language conflict. From the viewpoint of language security, language conflict emerges as a result of the securitization of language issues, representing an intense manifestation of language insecurity. The formation of language conflict involves various stages:perception of threats, response to these threats, and escalation into confrontation, which is a dynamic process illustrating the transition from language security to insecurity, and inclusive language policies significantly contribute to alleviating language conflict, facilitating the return of the ideal situation of language from insecurity to security. The construction of this framework provides a robust theoretical tool for the analysis of language conflict cases, aiding in a dee-per understanding of the factors influencing language security and the dynamic process of changes of language security status, which,in turn, promotes language planning to better serve the construction of national language capabilities under the holistic view of national security.
