An Interactional Sociolinguistic Analysis of the Space Dimension of Semogenesis——Taking Mongolian as an Example
Starting from the perspective of the social function of language symbols, this paper makes an in-depth discussion on the three time frames of semogenesis proposed by Halliday. The study shows that, firstly,Halliday's semogenesis theory,in essence,in-tegrates the dimensions of time and space.Based on the relevant theories in interactional sociolinguistics, the space dimension also includes three frameworks,i.e.,semogenesis in communal integration, semogenesis in interpersonal communication,semo-genesis in textual interaction.Secondly, the three space frameworks mutually overlap, promote and are closely interconnected. Finally, realization, instantiation and the space dimension of semogenesis form cross-matrices to jointly promote the evolution of language meaning in the strata of context, semantics and lexicogrammar. The analytic model of the space dimension provides a new interdisciplinary perspective for the study of semogenesis.
