Discourse Dynamics Approach to Metaphor:Theory,Applications and Prospects
As a core topic of cognitive linguistics,the focus of metaphor research has gradually shifted from psychological cognition to social cognition.In this context,Cameron introduced Complex Dynamic Systems Theory into metaphor research,proposing Dis-course Dynamics Approach to Metaphor that underpins the interaction of language,cognition,emotion,material,culture,and various other contexts.This approach emphasizes the dynamic cognitive process of metaphors formed by participants in communi-cation,interaction,and negotiation.Compared with traditional metaphor research methods,this method provides a more compre-hensive and flexible dimension and observation path.Given the scarcity of empirical investigations and normative research in this field in China,by introducing and evaluating the basic ideas and specific procedure of Discourse Dynamics Approach to Meta-phor,this article is committed to promoting the development of metaphor research paradigms,and elucidating the significance of emotions,attitudes,and values conveyed by discourse participants.
