Study on the Mechanism of Semantic Triggering for Temporal Deixis—Based on the Linguistic Characteristics of Russian and Chinese
The multi-level hierarchy of the semantic connotations and presentation forms of temporal deixis exacerbates the complexity of semantic expression procedures.In addition,the inseparable spatial characteristic of the linguistic representations of time con-cepts endows temporal deixis with a strong tendency of semantic triggering,which is a theoretical issue that previous scholars have not addressed in the research of temporal deixis.Based on the observation of the linguistic characteristics of Russian and Chi-nese,this paper probes into the close relationship between the formal structure and semantic expression of temporal deixis from the perspective of general linguistics,and examines the logic of spatial metaphor in the expression by temporal deixis and the re-sulting feature of semantic triggering.Furthermore,it reveals the important role of context in the semantic presentation of tempo-ral deixis,and constructs a bidirectional mechanism of semantic triggering for temporal deixis.
