Experimental Study on the Effects of Waste Slag Powder on the Flowability,Cohesiveness and Strength of Concrete
Replacing part of cement or combining aggregate with waste industrial slag powder to produce concrete is an environmentally friendly and economical way to consume industrial slag powder. This paper studies the mechanism of the effects of waste slag powder on the flowability, cohesiveness and compressive strength of concrete. The results show that the film thickness of concrete can be significantly increased by equal volume replacement of the aggregate by the waste slag powder, and the film thickness is one of the key factors affecting the flowability, cohesiveness and compressive strength of concrete. With the increasing amount of the waste slag powder, the flowability of concrete increases, the cohesiveness decreases, and the 28 d compressive strength first increases and then decreases. When the waste slag powder replaces 10%of the aggregate, the 28 d compressive strength of concrete reaches the maximum. Therefore, when the waste slag powder is applied as a replacement for the aggregate in real project, attention should be paid to limit the replacement amount below 10%.This not only ensures the strength of concrete, but also realizes the waste utilization of slag powder.
