A study on the cognitive processing paths in the translation of culture-loaded items based on corpus
Based on the parallel corpus, the author takes three Chinese translation visions of the English novel-On the Road as examples and analyzes the cognitive processing paths in translation of culture-loaded items through the statistical analysis of STTR,lexical density, average word length and four-character items ratio in the translation versions. The study finds translators varied in their selection of cognitive processing paths due to their different living times and backgrounds.During China's early reform and opening-up,the translation of culture-loaded items was dominated by conceptual integration. With the growing cultural exchanges, the interlingual reformation and conceptual integration of the translation vision have become increasingly balanced.Additionally,it also shows expressions with Chinese cultural characteristics can also effectively translate foreign cultures in the process of cultural translation. Therefore, translators can actively use terms with Chinese cultural characteristics to a certain extent, develop cultural confidence and carry out cultural integration in introducing foreign cultures.
