Research on the effect of carboxymethyl cellulose on surfactant foam properties and methane desorption
In order to examine the influence of surfactant foam performance on methane desorption un-der the effect of foam stabilizer, three different surfactants, sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS),sodium dodecyl sulphate(SDS)and alkyl glycoside surfactant(APG0810),as well as the stabilizing a-gent,carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC),were selected to configure solutions. The parameters of the solu-tion,such as surface tension, viscosity, foaming ability and foam stability, were found out to determine the solution composition with optimal foam performance, and the influence of temperature and coal sam-ple water content on the foam stability of the solution was explored.A high-pressure gas adsorption and desorption device was used to carry out the investigation of different surfactants containing stabilizer on foam stability. The study shows that:SDBS mass fraction of 0.15 of the solution foam half-life and foam volume is the best,respectively,239.34 min and 17.33 mL.After adding CMC,the solution foam half-life and foam volume has a significant increase in the 0.15%SDBS+0.50%CMC to reach the maxi-mum value,respectively,343.92 min and 19.33 mL.When the temperature decreases or the moisture content of coal samples increases, the increase of foam volume on the surface of coal body with time is small, which indicates that the foam stability increase under this condition.0.15%SDBS+0.50%CMC ratio solution infiltrates the coal samples, and the time of methane desorption is extended by 5 min com-pared with that of infiltrates the coal samples without CMC solution. The addition of CMC accelerates the formation of water molecules, increase the thickness of water layer, and prolong the existence time and coverage area of foam in coal samples, and effectively delay the methane desorption time. The re-sults could provide a reference for the study of the study of the law and mechanism of inhibition of methane desorption by high efficiency surfactants.
