The impact of FDI in producer services on manufacturing servitization:an analysis based on provincial panel data
This paper analyzes the relationship between the foreign direct investment(FDI)in producer services and the manufacturing servitization based on provincial panel data from 2010 to 2020 using a fixed effect model. The empirical study finds that FDI in producer services helps to improve the level of manufacturing servitization. This result is heterogeneous in different techno-logical complexities and regions.FDI in producer services with medium and low technological complexities have a significant promoting effect on manufacturing servitization.FDI in producer services in the eastern and central regions have a significant positive effect on manufacturing ser-vitization.In addition, trade openness enhances the promoting effect of FDI in producer services on manufacturing servitization. The manufacturing development level and provincial technological innovation play a partially mediating role in the impact of FDI in producer services on manufactur-ing servitization.
