As China gradually moves towards the center of the world stage, our nation has attached greater importance to the construction of China's overseas image.Besides Chinese literature, the speeches and works of the Party and state leaders also serve as important carriers to spread national image, thus it is rather meaningful to translate these texts well.Based on the English translations of Mao Zedong's poems, this article explores how Chinese revolutionary image has been continuously con-structed through diachronic revisions in three English translations by Xu Yuanchong. It is found out that Xu Yuanchong mainly adopts the methods of enhancement, rectification and supplement in his translation revisions to help western readers better un-derstand the essence of Mao Zedong'poems and the Chinese revolutionary image. The methods used to reconstruct the image are governed by the demands of the times, the retranslation requirements and the pursuit of the translator.
