摘要
少数民族典籍既是中华传统文化的重要组成部分,也是世界多元文化的有机组成部分,少数民族典籍英译对于"讲好中国故事,传播好中国声音"具有重要意义.本文以中国少数民族三大英雄史诗之一的《玛纳斯》艾什玛特演唱本的英译为例,论述在史诗翻译过程中,译者通过提供专有名词注释、背景信息注释以及文内互文和文外互文为目的语读者提供阅读和理解史诗背景的信息.深度翻译策略为了解源语文化提供了路径,对民族典籍英译具有一定启示和借鉴.
Abstract
Classics of Chinese ethnic minorities are an important part of Chinese culture and an organic component of world's multi-culture.Their translation and studies are of great significance to"tell China's stories well,and make China's voice heard globally".The paper explores the application of thick translation in the translation of Manas sung by Eshmat Manbetjusup.The translator provides information on proper nouns,background information,and applies intra-textuality and inter-textuality methods for readers to have a better understanding of the epic.Thick translation has implication to the English translation of Chinese ethnic classics as it is conductive to understanding the cultures of the source language.
