The famous French litterateur-sinologist Victor Segalen has made two in-depth visits to Shaanxi.Many Chinese ele-ments appear in the large number of archaeological notes,poems,proses and other written works he wrote,especially the his-torical features and cultural relics of Shaanxi Province.Whether the cultural relics of Shaanxi in archaeological works,or the culture and history of Shaanxi in literary works,they are all active in his writing.In view of this,it is extremely urgent to in-tently comb,on the basis of the existing Chinese literature,through Segalen's archival French documents,including his ar-chaeological notes,diaries,letters,etc.,which are still unfamiliar in Chinese academic world,restore Segalen's real archae-ological trip in Shaanxi more than a hundred years ago,analyze the various kinds of Shaanxi cultural elements,and salvage the Shaanxi cultural images.Our further purpose is to provide documentary support for the historical research and on-site excava-tion of Shaanxi archaeology.
