The study of Chinese opera translation is of great significance to improve the quality of opera translation and promote the spread of opera culture. However, there is a lack of systematic research on its general situation. Therefore, based on the visual data presented by CiteSpace software, this paper analyzes the literature of translation studies of Chinese Opera in the past 40 years from 1981 to 2021.The study finds that the hot areas focus on the translation of the operas in Yuan,Ming, and Qing dynastyies, the translation of limited types of operas,cross-cultural translation strategies in a general sense, and the ap-plication of Western translation theories. The research content on the whole reflects the problems in the translation studies of Chinese opera, such as more emphasis on the literariness rather than stage performance and the multimodal features of operas, lack of empirical research on translation strategies and interdisciplinary methods. It is suggested that new ideas and practices should be explored to deepen the interdisciplinary research on the multimodality of opera translation in this field.
