In every society,a fair number of words make someone embarrassed,unhappy,dislike or fear when used in communication.If we express the meaning in a direct way,we will give such impression as vulgar,frivolousness,and impoliteness.In order to avoid the embarrassment or ease the sting of harsh words,euphemisms have come into being.This paper discusses euphemism briefly.It mainly focuses on the application and function of English euphemism.
