On December 18,2023,an earthquake with magnitude 6.2 struck Jishishan County in Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture of Gansu Province,causing severe casualties and property losses in the surrounding areas.Based on site investigations,the main damage characteristics of the earthquake were identified,and intensity classification criteria were proposed.The work process and effectiveness of the earthquake emergency response were detailed,covering aspects such as governmental decision-making,response coordination,victim search and rescue,treatment of the wounded,technical support,public opinion management,resettlement of refugees,and secondary hazard screening.Finally,lessons from the earthquake disaster relief were drawn,and post-earthquake reconstruction countermeasures were proposed,considering local social and economic condi-tions as well as deficiencies in the current system of earthquake prevention and disaster reduction.
