Abstract
This paper made a statistical survey of the twenty kinds of arrow with modifiers and two kinds without modifiers in epic Jangar being sung in Khobogsayir,Bayangol and Kalmyk.The purpose of singers using dif-ferent names for arrows is to reflect their appearance characteristics and symbolic significance.This paper al-so explores the similarities and dissimilarities between arrows names in texts of Jangar from the aforemen-tioned three different regions.The arrows with modifiers appear more in Khobogsayir texts,those without modifiers appear more in Byangol texts,and the others with relatively few names appear in Kalmyk texts.At the same time,according to the use of arrows mentioned in the text,we classified the arrows are into several kinds including unused arrows,ordinary arrows,resonant arrows,poisonous arrows,firing arrows,divine ar-rows,random arrows and so on.We hope this article will promote cultural research of epic Jangar.
