Application of Bacterial Cellulose as a Carrier in Medicine and Catalysis
Bacterial Cellulose(BC)is an extracellular insoluble polysaccharide formed by the fermentation of microorganisms such as Bacillus cereus.Due to its excellent biodegradability, high polymerization, and high crystallinity,BC has a broad application prospect as an environmentally friendly biomaterial in the fields of medicine, chemistry and food packaging. In this paper, the applications of BC as a drug,as well as a precious metal catalyst carrier in medicine and catalysis, are explored and summarized in terms of the two main preparation methods of BC,and its future research and development directions are discussed.
