Study on Antibacterial and Anti-inflammatory Effects of Tibetan Medicine Jiuwei Fangwen San
Objective To investigate the antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of the Tibetan medicine Jiuwei Fangwen San,both in vitro and in vivo. Methods Initially, the fragrance dispersion method and minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC)determination were employed to assess its antibacterial properties in vitro.A mouse model about bacterial infection was established to evaluate the antibacterial effects using survival rate and tissue bacterial load as indicators in vivo.Subsequently,LPS-and CLP-induced sepsis models were established to evaluate the anti-inflammatory efficacy of Jiuwei Fangwen San using survival rates, lung tissue damage,mRNA and protein levels of inflammatory factors as indicators. Results Jiuwei Fangwen San exerted notable antibacterial activity, particularly against Klebsiella pneumoniae in vitro. It improved the survival rates of mice infected with bacteria and reduced the tissue bacterial load in mice infected with Klebsiella pneumoniae.Furthermore,Jiuwei Fangwen San significantly mitigated inflammation induced by infection, evidenced by increased survival rates in septic mice, alleviated lung tissue damage, and decreased the production of inflammatory factors. Conclusions Jiuwei Fangwen San possessed significant antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. This study provided experimental evidence for the clinical application of Jiuwei Fangwen San.
