This paper delves into the metamorphosis of Buyi traditional suspenders in terms of functionality,structural evolution,and decorative patterns since the 1930s,employing methods such as sample comparison,literature analysis,field surveys,and interviews.The study reveals that over the past nine decades,Buyi suspenders have not only undergone profound diversification but also maintained significant cultural continuity.The original functionalities,structural designs,and symbolic decorations have been effectively preserved and passed down,while the themes and expressive forms of the decorations have undergone remarkable transformations.These changes vividly illustrate the evolutionary trajectory of Buyi cultural perspectives on life and demonstrate the unique ethnic wisdom displayed in their decorative arts.
