This paper aims to explore the preservation and innovation of the art of plant dyeing.Through field research and design practices,it investigates the application and development of plant dyeing in contemporary fashion and product design industries.The study highlights that"grounded protection"is the lifeline of intangible cultural heritage.As one of China's intangible cultural heritages,the sustainable development of plant dyeing depends on a balance between preservation and innovation.The recognition and cultural identity of this heritage reflect the national character,while the preservation and advancement of traditional craftsmanship are responsibilities entrusted to the younger generation by the times.Young designers should actively contribute to the transformation and upgrading of China's contemporary design industry,thereby enhancing the country's image and soft power.
